First Films First

CINEUROPA and PUBLIC PRIZE goes to FFF’s OPEN DOOR at LECCE FF!

We are so proud to share that the second completed film of Goethe-Institut’s FIRST FILMS FIRST training program, OPEN DOOR by Florenc Papas received two awards at Lecce European Film Festival, Italy, which took place in the first week of November.

Public has chosen OPEN DOOR as the best film, as well as Cineuropa editors, which stated that ‘‘ Open Door portrays the unmistakable social aspect of a patriarchal society of a poor country in transition, without forcing it beyond the needs of the screenplay, which is utterly economical. A film that is brilliantly played by the two lead actresses and that shows rural Albania in a particularly poetic way.’’

Florenc Papas’ debut has recently been chosen as the official candidate of Albania for the 93rd Academy Awards.

Huge congratulations once again to Florenc, the team, and the people and organizations that have supported this strong film. If you still haven’t seen the film, here’s the trailer.
