LIGHTS ON WOMEN and QUEER PALM Awards go to FFF\’s ALEKSANDRA ODIC at Cannes FF!

Goethe-Institut\’s FIRST FILMS FIRST participant ALEKSANDRA ODIC receives LIGHTS ON WOMEN award at Cannes with her short FRIDA chosen for the first time by the solo-juror Kate Winslet!

Aleksandra Odić in recognition for her short film Frida will receive financial support of € 30,000.

\”The short film by Aleksandra Odić, Frida, moved me to tears,\” said Kate Winslet in connection, far from Cannes due to medical difficulties.

\”The brave delicacy and little use of dialogue have created an inner pain that requires courage, skill and a very delicate hand. I am confident that the Lights on Women Award will help a new generation of female directors in their careers, while also capturing unique themes and extremely relevant within the challenges of our world today \”.

And it\’s not the only award. FRIDA by Aleksandra Odic received a QUEER PALM award for a short film as well given by a jury composed of filmmakers and artists.

Aleksandra Odic is currently developing her debut feature-length fiction project VANJA within the new edition of Goethe-Institut\’s FIRST FILMS FIRST program. Details about VANJA will be unveiled very soon.

Kudos Aleksandra!
