MNK BOY receives CO-PRODUCTION SUPPORT from TURKEY!

Mete Gümürhan ,Turkish-Dutch filmmaker and an alumnus of Goethe-Institut’s FIRST FILMS FIRST training program, is working on his debut feature fiction project ŞAHMERDAN (MNK BOY) which is a Netherlands-Germany-Turkey co-production. 

In the second ever call for co-productions by Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, MNK BOY was granted the support of 64K Euro. Film is so far supported by Netherlands Film Fund, Netherlands Film Production Incentive, CoBO Fund, Dutch public broadcaster VPRO, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein. The producer are Stienette Bosklopper (Circe Films, NL), Anette Unger (Leitwolf Film, DE), Nadir Operli (Liman Film, TR), Maarten Swart (Kaap Holland Film, NL) and Aydin Dehzad, Bas Broertjes (Kaliber Film, NL)

MNK Boy is the story of the 12-year-old Zeki, who leaves his sober life in the ghettos of Rotterdam behind to make a new start in the metropolitan Istanbul together with his father Mahir but he feels trapped inside the posh gated community that is their new home.
