Goethe-Institut\’s FIRST FILMS FIRST alumna NAZLI ELIF DURLU wraps the shooting of her debut project ZUHAL, filmed in Istanbul, and is now in post-production.
Co-written by Nazli Elif Durlu and Ziya Demirel, directed by Nazli Elif Durlu, ZUHAL is a co-production of istos film (TR), Achtung Panda! (DE), TN Yapim (TR), Karaçelik Film (TR), Yumurta Yapim Sanat (TR), funded by the Turkish-German Co-Production Development Fund and fiscally sponsored through Film Independent; delegate producer being Anna Maria Aslanoğlu, co-producers Jamila Wenske, Tanay Abbasoğlu, Tolga Karaçelik and Öykü Canlı.
Zuhal tells the story of a woman who keeps hearing a cat sound in her flat and starts a search inside her apartment building in pursuit of this cat. A confrontational, humorous tale of her life and her encounters with her neighbours.
The leading actress is the renown Nihal Yalçın, accompanied by Nur Sürer, Sadi Celil Cengiz, Sencar Sağdıç, Serpil Gül, Ilgaz Kocatürk, Çağdaş Ekin Şişman, Fatih Al.
ZUHAL is developed through Meetings on the Bridge Development Workshop and Co-production Market (2016), First Films First (2017), Mediterranean Film Institute (2017), Global Media Makers of Film Independent (2017), presented at Los Angeles Greek FF’s International Project Development Forum (2016), Trieste FF’s When East Meets West (2017).
